The hot weather is just about killing us here in the South. Of course, the air conditioning in our house is acting up! When my kids began complaining about how hot their rooms are, I began remembering how hot we were growing up. Generally, there was no air conditioning, and we had to make do with a fan in the windows. Eventually, Daddy got a window unit but didn’t want to use it much. We just adjusted and made the best of it. Well, anyway, I remember my cousins and I baking biscuits using the blaring southern sun as our oven more than once. We also made our fair share of mud pies after sitting in a great big mud puddle at our grandparents house way back.Since I don’t have any desire or intention to sit in the mud or go without air conditioning, I called the repair man!
Just last week, my aunt sent me a piece that she had written about our family Christmas traditions. I thought, what better time to post it than July when we are in the throes of 100 plus degree weather! So, pretend it is December and you have Christmas decorations up. Thanks Connie for sending this and reminding me of how our Christmas morning tradition was born!
